The Mystic Gambler

Several years ago, my wife and I were having dinner after a 'not so good' session of Video Poker. Looking over at me, in between bites of her steak, she said something like, "I just love playing this game so much. It doesn't really matter if I lose - I would play it anyway." Being that we're both advantage players and have been for several years - I thought it a strange statement. At first. But then I remembered the days before we discovered video poker and the thousand of dollars and endless hours we spent in front of slot machines. What were we thinking? Oh Happy Days - of Old Age! Could the key to happiness and a long, healthy life be casino gambling? I sure hope so. Come to think of it, those old folks rushing to jump on their favorite slot machine do look pretty happy and excited. And man do they get upset if somebody is playing on their favorite machine. Just like they did in church when somebody sat in their 'reserved' spot in the pews. But it looks like elderly gamblers may have an advantage in life, even if they don't have the edge in the casino.  The next time you see that bus from Sun City unload with wheel chairs and oxegen tanks you might look at them a little differently.
